Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why is
this mask so light in strap pressure?
With most masks, the larger the sealing area (against your skin) the
more strap pressure required. With the Personally Moulded Sleep Apnea
Mask the sealing area is only the size and shape of your nostrils (this
is not a large area.) The straps are primarily there to prevent the mask
from being pulled off your face during movement whilst sleeping.
-
How stable is the mask on your face?
This is a very hard area to define, as each mask is an
individual, which will fit only one person. However, because the mask is
an exact fit on your face, nose, top lip and third eye region, we
believe it to be the most stable mask available anywhere in the world.
The mask is so secure on your face that it will dictate to the hose at
all times and not the other way around (creating mask leaks). We have
done tests by hanging 3 house bricks on one side of the mask (around the
nose area) without dislodging it. All this weight with a strap pressure
of only 1/8” stretch.
-
Why will this mask hold my nasal passages open?
With conventional masks there is an equalizing of pressure
externally and internally of the nose and the nasal passages are
expected to handle this increase volume of air for every breath you
take. With the Logical and Anderson mask there is zero air pressure on the outside
of your nose and your CPAP air is injected directly into your nostrils,
therefore holding the nasal passages open continuously.
-
What about side sleeping?
Most people sleep on their sides during a normal nights
sleep. This can be difficult to achieve with a conventional mask without
leakage. This leakage can also disturb your sleep and your partners. As the mask is an exact fit over the nose, it will remain in the correct
position on the face and will also be very comfortable.
-
Can I use
my new mask with my CPAP I am using?
You can use the Personally Moulded Sleep Apnea Mask with any
CPAP machine.
-
Does it
become hot in summer?
Yes – On really exceptional hot and humid nights it can be
uncomfortable, however, you probably wouldn't want to sleep with any
other mask on your face on those nights. The material this mask is made
from is hypoallergenic and suitable to be worn against the skin.
-
Does the
mask cover my mouth?
No, the mask sits over the mouth but does not cover it.
Normal speech and breathing is possible.

Where can
I purchase a Personally Moulded Sleep Apnea Mask?
You need to make an appointment to see the mask and to have a
facial impression taken at our premises in KANGAROO VALLEY, NSW,
AUSTRALIA.
Australia Ph. 02 4465 1508.
International Ph. +61 2 4465
1508
The appointment normally takes about 2 hours. We spend time talking
about the many benefits the mask will have for you as an individual. We
have you lying down on the couch before we take the impression as this
allows for the fluids to drain from your face and then we can take an
impression of your sleeping face.
-
What is
the facial impression like?
To have a facial impression taken is very relaxing. The
moulding is on and off the face in 10 minutes or less.
-
How long
does it take to have my new mask manufactured?
It will take 3-4 weeks. Your mask is made as an individual.
Each mask is hand made with extreme care. It is not just an injection
moulded off the shelf item.
-
Do I have
to come back for fittings?
No. We send your mask to you via registered Australia
Post. It will include full instructions for fitting your new mask yourself.
-
How do I
clean my mask?
So simple. Wash it every morning with plain soap and cold
water. Just follow the instructions on the mask container.
-
Is this
Personally Moulded Sleep Apnea Mask expensive?
This mask is not an "off the shelf" standard sleep apnea
mask. It’s far from it. Each mask is individually hand made. What price
can you put on quality sleep? The price is a little over $1 per night to
have a full 8 hours sleep and full compliance with CPAP. You will wake
feeling refreshed, without pressure sores, and general discomfort. We have past clients coming back to us for a new mask after 3, 4 and 5 years. Is
good quality sleep worth that to you?
-
Will my
Medical Fund cover this mask?
You will need to check with your fund, because some do cover
CPAP machines but not accessories. It will also depend on your plan.
